The Webcams

Link to the webcams of l'Albufera

In June 2002, a couple of webcam were installed in l'Albufera de Valencia by the Conselleria de Medi Ambient. The images obtained by the webcams are those that can be observed at the Visitors Centre of the Racó de l'Olla reserve. A couple of remote controled cameras give the visitors the chance to observe closely what is happening in unaccessible areas.

The images that are now available at the Internet are those chosen by the visitors of the Racó de l'Olla. They are controlling the cameras, which can be moved up and down and left to right, including zoom in and out. Therefore, the position of the cameras can change for one image to another and, sometimes, no target is available.

Camera #1: "Racó de l'Olla"
It is placed in a saltmarsh habitat of the beach barrier. The area is used for terns, gulls and waders to nest. Species featured here at this season include Sandwich Tern Sterna sandvicensis - the southernmost breeding colony of Europe -, Gull-billed Tern Gelochelidon nilotica, Slender-billed Gull Larus genei, Common Tern Sterna hirundo and Avocet Recurvirostra avosetta, amongst others. Pay attention to the potential presence of Marbled Teal Marmaronetta angustirostris at this camera.

Camera #2: "Mata del Fang"
It is placed at the shore of a reedbed island of the coastal lagoon. The area is used for herons, ducks and rails to nest. Species featured here at this season include Grey Heron Ardea cinerea, Mallard Anas platythynchos and Moorhen Gallinula chloropus, amongst others. Pay attention to the potential presence of Purple Gallinule Porphyrio porphyrio at this camera.
