Glatter-Götz Organbuilders, Owingen, in cooperation with Johannes Klais Organbuilders, Bonn, was awarded the contract to build the new concert organ for the Moscow International House of Music. The bid for the project was prepared in collaboration between the organ building workshops of Glatter-Götz and Klais. The execution of the contract for this significant instrument was also carried out jointly by the two companies. The project is particularly noteworthy as the organ will be the largest new concert instrument to appear in Moscow in the last 100 years and it will set a new accent. We were pleased to build this instrument with Klais Organbuilders, a company which has created many significant concert organs worldwide. The purpose of the cooperation is the achievement of an optimal result by successfully blending and complementing the talents and experience of both companies. The strikingly modern concert hall with a seating capacity of 1800 has been completed and was officially opened in December, 2002, by President Vladimir Putin. The installation of the organ was executed in the latter half of 2004.

The organ concept is in the tradition of the German Romantic style. The case is the latest example of designs developed exclusively for Glatter-Götz Organbuilders by architect, Graham Tristram of Edinburgh. In addition to its modern appearance, the organ provides for the ideal placement of the choir in front of the instrument.

The hall has 1753 seats. Its big vestibule is decorated with a light tones' marble. Near the winter garden from the observation grounds opens a beautiful view on the ensemble of Novospass Monastery. The audience feels free to enter the Hall by escalators and wide stairs. The Hall is paneled with Siberian larch – the best acoustic wood in the world. In the end of the year 2004 there first sounded the biggest in Russia on the amount of steam registers organ made by “Klais”.

The dimensions of the stage: width – 19 meters, depth – 14 meters, heights – 13 meters
