If you simply print the piece
graphics on white cardboard, protect them with adhesive plastic (transparent
on top, any type on the back) and then cut them out, you'll get a perfectly
playable set.
It doesn't matter if the pieces
are flat, since they can move around the board sliding (remember that they
cannot jump over other pieces!).
If you have suitably sized
disks in two different colours (like checker pieces, for instance, ideally
with some sort of rim) to paste them onto or into, all the better:

(Tip: Even if you're going to paste the cardboard pieces, it's a good idea to protect them below, since glue has the nasty habit of, over time, working itself through materials like cardboard and raise its ugly head on the surface!)
On the grey board, flat cardboard counters probably look better framed in black and white, so you may want to use this version:

The card graphics are organized
in five sheets with 2x9 cards each, and one sixth sheet with the 9 joker
cards.
The idea is to print each
sheet at maximum size on A4 cardboard. Click on the images to load each
sheet and download from there:
I have divided the board into four parts, to be printed on an A4 sheet each. The best size for printing will of course depend on the size of your pieces. Click on the images to load each sheet and download from there:
Both card sheets and board
parts should be protected with adhesive plastic on both sides. For the
back of the cards a somehow structured design is best (then you don't see
scratches as easily as on plain colour), but the details should be small
enough to make pattern memorization unfeasible.
Cut out cards and board parts
after plastification. Join the board parts with bits of sticky tape on
the back, in such a way that it can be easily folded. (In order to achieve
this, you may have to leave a gap of half a millimeter in the direction
of the second folding, for which I'd recommend the short sides.)
I wish you good luck with the job! If I can be of any assistance, don't hesitate to let me know: uroth@teleline.es
