Eleusis
Cards: Basic Edition
If you're a newcomer to Eleusis,
starting out with the Basic Edition could actually be an excellent idea.
It has just as many cards as the Ludopath deck proper (192), but the number
of features has been stripped to what I consider the minimum (and some
might argue: also the maximum!) of distinctive features for optimum gameplay.
As you can see below, there
are
- 3 background colours (red, blue, yellow)
- 4 foreground colours (orange, violet, green, grey)
- 2 foreground shapes (circle and square)
- 12 numbers in 2 colours (black and white).
The cards are square and perhaps
better referred to as tiles. If you print each of the four sheets in A4
format, the individual tile will come out 3,3 x 3,3 cm approximately, which
means you can comfortably play on a small table. (As always, I recommend
you print on cardboard and protect with adhesive plastic.)
Holding the tiles card-like
in your hand may be somewhat uncomfortable, but in Eleusis it is also quite
unnecessary: Just put them openly on the table in front of you; seeing
other players' cards offers no advantage in Eleusis.
Click on each sheet to enlarge
and then download (a measly 30 k each) from there:

Note that these graphics are
not
antialiased, which means that using your favourite graphics programme
you can change all their colours with a few mouse clicks if you
prefer!
Note also that for - ahem -
aesthetic reasons I have omitted to distinguish the 6s and 9s by means
of dots. Well, to be honest I simply forgot about this, but then it occurred
to me that now these tiles can be used for both numbers, and no harm done.
(Of course, once placed in the line they count only as either 6 or
9, according to which way up they face.)
The tiles are 100 x 100 pixels,
which should be fine for inkjet printing. My original graphics are 200
x 200; so if for some reason you require best quality, don't hesitate to
let me
know!
