(3) From 15 Mar to 21 Apr 1985 vicepresident Sarney acted as president because the elected president Tancredo de Almeida Neves (PMDB), being incapacitated, could not take office. Neves died on 21 Apr and on 22 Apr, upon approval of the Congress, Sarney assumed the post definitively.
(4) The Chamber of Deputies temporally deprived Collor de Mello of his presidential functions on 29 Sep 1992 and elected vicepresident Franco as acting president on 2 Oct. Collor resigned on 29 Dec and Franco officially succeeded him.
