Workshops for assembling, delivering and maintaining the bicycles.
We must not forget that we try to give a solution for transportation to certain groups of people, whose idiosyncrasy is very different from ours. But, in addition to this, it is an individual transportation solution for each person, with his/her personal characteristics and needs. Therefore, in the initial phase of every regional project, we should set up an assembling process tailored to every specific need. There are many variables: dimensions; technical characteristics; predicted use (bikes for children, tows, cistern-bikes, etc) Once we have analysed in depth those needs, we will be able to define:
- Models to be assembled
- Logistics for materials, spares and tools
- Detailed assembling process for each model
- Training plan for both: technicians and users
- Allocation and delivery process
Out of this last point, and among the subjects to be discussed:
- The ownership, that might be oriented in two ways:
Private ownership. We can perhaps think of a "price", not a monetary one of course. Some ideas: Attendance to a user's course, addressing maintenance issues, basic repairs, etc. Involvement in assembling process, having the chance to personalise his/her own bike.
- Communal ownership. Bikes to be shared for usage of groups of people. The workshop could then act as control centre (the school in some cases)
